The 15/5 Steak Dinner

15 min/ 5 ingredients $15 for 5 people

It’s 5p and you haven’t defrosted anything… Dinner is in one hour… What to do?!?

Not to worry- a 5 ingredient, 15 minute meal for 5 for a total of $15. No, it’s not ramen… Would you believe me if I told you it was STEAK?

You have one hour 'til your normal dinner time and everything is frozen solid. So run to your local grocery store and pick up a box of minute rice (or bag of rice if you have a rice cooker) for $2, a watermelon for $3 and $8-10 for thin sirloin tip. Head home and begin the prep!


Take your steak out and salt and pepper to taste…. liberally is best…. on both sides. Heat up your grill to a med-high heat- and get your rice in the microwave for 5 minutes (or the rice cooker for 12). That’s your first 4 minutes! Put your steaks on the grill and head inside to cut some slices of watermelon.. Once your steaks have been cooking for about 5 minutes, go flip them (9 minutes in). Have a child or spouse set the table while you finish the watermelon slicing. Fluff the rice once done, butter or season to taste. Go get your steaks off after another 3-4 minutes. Let them rest for 1 minute and then slice or cut into squares. Serve!


In 15 minutes you have a delicious and fast meal! No joke mama! I just did this tonight and it was fantastic! We enjoyed it thoroughly! EVERY child ate it, and everyone was happy. I even let me 2 year old help season the meat! My 7 year old set the table and my 3 year old ran with excitement to the dinner table. Happy mama, happy dad… All around an amazing meal I couldn’t wait to share!


Thin Sirloin Steak for Dinner Prep Time: 4 minutes Cook Time: 9 minutes

Rest/ Serve time: 2 minutes 4 Thin Steaks Salt and Pepper Rice Butter Watermelon


Instructions: Heat Grill or Skillet to Medium High Heat

Season Steaks Liberally on both sides with course salt and pepper Start Instant Rice in Microwave (5 minutes) or start rice in rice cooker (12 minutes)

Place steaks on Grill or Skillet and let cook 5 minutes and flip for another 3-4 minutes.

Slice Watermelon and fluff rice while steaks cook.

Let steak rest 1 min, then slice into strips or squares
